"I am Candice, married to Cobus. In May 2019, my husband said he was divorcing me and moved out. I didn't want to sign the divorce papers but in order to protect myself and our son, I did. We were officially divorced in December. The first six months after our separation, I lived the ways of the world, thinking I would get over the divorce. The separation was really hurting our 10-year-old son. On the day of the divorce, Cobus posted a picture celebrating the divorce. I cried all day but realized I would stand for my marriage. Cobus loved his single life so much that I wondered if God could restore our marriage. He was enjoying a bachelor life of drinking and partying and I only saw him when he came every second weekend to pick up our son. I prayed and cried unto the Lord but it felt as if God had left me. I came across Standing Supernaturally Academy and did the online Challenges. I realized I must not look at the natural but trust that God works behind the scenes. God also gave me dreams of restoration. On October 23, 2020, Cobus simply dropped our son off and left. When I phoned Cobus, a lady called and told me to leave him alone, as we were divorced and he belonged to her. I wept before the Lord. Cobus had also stopped contacting our son. But on December 23, 2020, he phoned me and said he had COVID-19; I wished him a speedy recovery. Anytime he called after that, I would hand the phone to our son. God showed me Psalms 46:10 — Be still and know I am God. If Cobus sent hateful messages, I would remember that verse. He always said he would never return and that if he still loved me, he would be with me. In January 2021, he started coming over more frequently and said something had changed about me. I knew that it was God's work in my life. God had to change me first and I learned to keep quiet and forgive. In May 2021, exactly two years after he left, he messaged me one evening and asked if he could come over. He arrived 10 minutes after he phoned. His words were, "I am coming home!" In the 17 years that we were married, Cobus drank every night. He moved home in June 2021, still drinking. After confessing he had slept with numerous ladies, I had to forgive. It was not easy but with God's strength, I forgave him. On January 22, 2023, Cobus decided to quit alcohol and has not drunk a drop of alcohol since! We go to church every Sunday. He's stopped swearing. He is a new person. He gets on his knees every morning, praying and reading the Word. He is the one who prays for me if things get tough. I prayed for a hedge of protection around Cobus, covered him with the blood of Jesus and asked God to take his heart of stone and give him a heart of flesh. I asked God to convict him if he was acting sinfully. If God can restore my marriage after divorce and two years of separation and break all spirits of lust and alcohol, God can do it for everyone. I give God all the glory and honour. I want to thank my husband, Cobus. I want to thank Jason Carver (Standing Supernaturally Ministries) and all the people who are standing for their marriages for their prayers, love and support. Thank you! But God deserves the glory.
