WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL:This Is Your Season To Prosper As You Stand For Marriage Restoration
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” - 3 John 2 (NKJV) In this season of standing for marriage restoration, it is easy to focus solely on the challenging circumstances and the pain of rejection and to concentrate on all that is missing. However today I want to draw your attention to a powerful prayer I quoted every single day of my stand, found in 3 John 2 (NKJV): “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” This scripture reminded me that God did not just want me to survive but it was His plan for me to actually prosper in all areas of my life, even in the midst of the difficulty of standing. Let’s look at how this promise can apply to your season of standing as it did for mine. First, notice this passage says, “and be in good health.” Your health is a precious gift from God and He wants to see you thrive in this area. As you stand for your marriage, take this as an opportunity to invest in your well-being. Physical exercise, a balanced diet and proper self-care can lead to an improvement in your health. I want you to expect to feel stronger and healthier than ever before during this season. During my stand, I made a choice to get fit and work out every day. Each day before I started my workout, I quoted that verse, declaring my body was going to prosper as I got fit and stood for my wife to come home. I want you to know that God wants to use this season to bring you to a new level of healthiness than you have ever experienced. When I read this verse during my stand I also started to believe that it affected the area of finances. While we must steer clear of a “prosperity gospel” mindset, we can expect God’s provision during our season of standing. Financial burdens can be daunting, especially when you are facing the challenges of separation. However, have faith that God can not only provide for all your needs but also bless you with more resources. Miraculous financial blessings are not out of reach. During my stand, I saw firsthand the miraculous power of financial prosperity. Somehow I was supernaturally blessed to pay for both Christine’s and my house payments and still save enough money that on the day Christine came home, we actually paid in cash for a weeklong luxurious cruise for us and our daughters. How did this happen? Did I get an extra job? No, I partnered with God, believing He would prosper me as I stood for my marriage. What God did for me He will do for you! Lastly, the verse in 3 John 2 highlights how God will, most importantly, prosper your soul. The deep core of your being is also included in God’s plan for your prosperity. Be confident that your inner being can be blessed even in this difficult season. This does not have to be an emotionally debilitating season. You do not have to walk around despondent and regularly discouraged. As your soul thrives, you will find inner peace and strength that can carry you through the challenges of standing. 3 John 2 contains this promise concerning the wealth of a prosperous soul that God wants to give you today! Remember that this promise encompasses “all things.” It is not just about your marriage but about every aspect of your life. God cares about your health, your finances, your emotional well-being and all other aspects of your life. Do not let the enemy convince you that this season will only bring struggle and hardship. Instead, stand firm in the belief that God’s intention is for you to flourish. In this standing season, I declare you find healing, strength and abundance. I declare your health improves, your finances rise to an amazing level and your soul thrives. Trust that God’s promise to prosper you in all things is not dependent on your spouse coming home but on God’s unfailing love and faithfulness. This is indeed your season to prosper.
