WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL:Stand With A Divine Perspective As You Stand For Marriage Restoration
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” - Colossians 3:2 (ESV) Yesterday I talked about the sound mind. Today, I want to share with you one of the pillars of Standing Supernaturally. We call it “Standing with a Divine Perspective.” While I was standing for my marriage, the Lord taught me that I must learn to stand with His Divine Perspective about my marriage and not just what I see in the natural. He was calling me as He is calling you to have a divine perspective, one that transcends the natural and aligns with heaven’s view of my situation. The apostle Paul, in Colossians 3:2, commands us to “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” This scripture holds a powerful key to navigating the difficulties of standing for your marriage. As a stander, it is an absolute necessity to adopt God’s perspective over the earthly circumstances that you see if you want to stand successfully for marriage restoration. I know that is easier said than done because it’s so natural to become fixated on the visible struggles and obstacles that surround you. The actions of your spouse, the opinions of others and all the “advice” cloaked in wisdom most often appear completely insurmountable. However, Heaven’s view sees beyond these limitations. The divine perspective knows that God’s plan for your marriage is not contingent on what you can see in the natural. The divine perspective understands that God’s ways are higher, His love is deeper and His power is limitless. So, how do you embrace and grow in the divine perspective? You must be willing to have a transformation of mindset. This transformation begins by consciously setting your mind on things from Heaven’s perspective. It involves replacing doubt with faith, fear with hope and despair with confidence in God’s power. Instead of dwelling on the easily seen negatives of your marriage situation, you fix your gaze on God’s character, His power and the truths of His Word. One of the most significant shifts that occur when you adopt a divine perspective is how you view your spouse. Instead of focusing on their flaws, mistakes or current behavior, begin to see them as God does, a beloved child of His, someone whom Christ died for, someone whom the Holy Spirit is pursuing and someone who has an amazing destiny of God in front of them. This perspective will help you extend grace, love and forgiveness even when it seems undeserved. This mindset will empower you to pray for their transformation with a heart full of compassion and directly in line with the heart of God. This divine perspective will instill in you a hope that rises above your current circumstances. When the world says it’s impossible, God’s view says all things are possible. It reminds you of the countless stories of restoration and redemption found throughout the Bible and the stories of the testimonies in this book! These are stories of marriages saved, prodigals returning and brokenness made whole. With a divine perspective, you anchor your hope in God’s faithfulness rather than the shifting sands of your spouse’s attitude and desires. A divine perspective also leads you to a greater walk of faith. It means taking steps in obedience to God’s leading, even when the world says it’s unreasonable. It means praying fervently, standing firm and believing that God is working behind the scenes. Seeing that He is orchestrating a plan far greater than you can imagine. It also empowers you to trust in His timing and His ways, even when they don’t align with your expectations. So, as you stand for the restoration of your marriage remember that your perspective matters. A divine perspective rooted in Colossians 3:2 changes everything. It shifts your focus from the visible to the invisible, from the temporal to the eternal and from despair to hope. It enables you to see your spouse, your situation and your future through the lens of God’s unfailing love and limitless miracle-working power. Today, as you set your mind on things above, you are aligning yourself with heaven’s hope and heaven’s view. You will recognize that God’s plan for your marriage is not limited by what you can see in the natural. It’s a plan that transcends circumstances, transforms hearts and brings restoration beyond human understanding. So, today, stand firm with a divine perspective; in it, you’ll find the strength, faith and unwavering hope needed to see your marriage restored.
