It’s Not Your Love But Christ’s As You Stand For Marriage Restoration “For it is Christ’s love that fuels our passion and motivates us, because we are absolutely convinced that He has given His life for all of us. This means all died with Him,” - 2 Corinthians 5:14 (TPT) Today, we are looking at the reality that it’s not “your” love alone that will sustain you through the challenges of standing for your marriage restoration. Instead, I need you to know that if you are going to stand successfully, you must tap in and get filled up with the boundless love that comes only from Jesus Christ Himself. This, my friend, is the jet fuel that empowers your stand. 2 Corinthians 5:14 (TPT) reminds us that it is Christ’s love that fuels our passion and motivates us. This verse holds a profound truth that can transform your perspective on standing for your marriage. It is easy to fall into the trap of relying solely on your own love, which can falter and wane amidst difficulties. But when you tap into the love of Christ dwelling within you, you can access an unending power of love, grace and strength. Often, we may find ourselves saying, “I can’t love my spouse anymore because of all the hurt and issues.” While this is understandable, it is crucial to recognize that you are not being asked to create this love in your own strength. Instead, you are called to love your spouse in the strength of Jesus. Then you will actually have His love for your spouse and not just your own. Yes, it is true that at times, our love can run dry, especially in the face of rejection. But Christ’s love is so much different; it is boundless, unwavering and unfathomable. Even when He was being rejected and mocked, He stayed true. His love showed extreme persistence and it is this type of love that will move you to extraordinary lengths and empower you to stand firm when your own capacity falls short. Please ask yourself this honest question: have you been feeling empty and struggling to stand for restoration? Perhaps it is because you have been trying to rely on your love alone. Our human love can indeed reach its limits, leaving us drained and oftentimes discouraged. However, when you allow yourself to be filled with Christ’s love, you tap into a supernatural source of strength that truly has no end. I love how The Message translation writes this verse. 2 Corinthians 5:14 in The Message says, “Christ’s love has moved me to such extremes. His love has the first and last word in everything we do.” What a powerful way to describe it! This means that Jesus’ love has the power to live in you and cause you to act in ways that others would call extreme. Sound familiar? So, do you need an extreme move of God? We will start by encountering Jesus’ extreme love for your spouse. I also love how this verse says that His love is the first and last word on why you are standing for marriage restoration. So, how do you access and walk in Christ’s love? It begins with a surrender of your heart and a recognition of your need for His love to flow through you. It is a confession that you are only operating out of your own love and not the supernatural love that Jesus has for your spouse. If you need this to increase in your life, start by spending time in prayer, not just asking God to restore your marriage but by asking God to fill you up with His love, grace and compassion that He has for your spouse. Just watch the transformation that will take place! So, as you begin to immerse yourself in Christ’s love, get ready for it to become a new anchor of your stand. It is going to provide you with the endurance and resilience needed to persevere through this stormy season of standing for restoration. If your love starts to run dry, do not panic; just remember that Jesus’ love remains constant and will sustain you through every trial. Remember that it is not your love but Christ’s love that will empower you to persevere. Today, rest in the assurance that Jesus’ love has the first and last word in everything you do, including your stand for the restoration of your marriage.
